A FORMER Death in Paradise star will be kicking off a special Easter family event in Weaverham.

Actor Tobi Bakare (JP Hooper) is performing a play at Easter Fest; a festival of fun for all the family organised by Stronghold Church and The Hub, Weaverham - with help from other churches and organisations in the areas.

It will consist of a week of activities for children, youth and adults that promotes mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing, all taking place on Lakehouse Field in Weaverham.

A spokesperson for Stronghold said: "We at the Stronghold, together with local churches, believe it’s our job to serve the community, so it’s our pleasure to put this very exciting festival of events on for the whole family!

“Every night after a string of activities during the day, there will be a mainstage event starting at 7pm.”

Jonathan Cook, who is involved with the organisation of the event, added: “There will be a 400-seater tent being erected on Monday, April 3 and the event starts on Wednesday the 5th.

“To open the event on the Wednesday evening we have actor Tobi Bakare who played JP Hooper in the hit BBC drama ‘Death in Paradise’.

“He will be performing a play.

“This is probably the first time an event has been held on Lakehouse Field and will include a kids’ holiday club, circus acts and skills, inflatables, a youth concert, open mic night and more.

“It’s a completely free event and something we are putting on for the local community.

“You can just turn up, but kids do have to be registered for the kids’ club.”

The holiday kids’ club is open to children from reception through to year six, and there will also be activities for parents who want to stay and play with their babies and toddlers.

You can register your interest from 2pm on April 4 at the big tent in Lakehouse Field.

The club starts on April 5 from 10am until 12.30pm and runs through to April 7.

All workers are DBS checked.

The Hub café will be open in the big tent from 9am until 5pm each day of the event, alongside exciting afternoon activities from 2pm which are all free.
