ARMED forces veterans looking for a new career could soon retrain as dog groomers in Northwich.
Leftwich-based Four Paws Groom School has just been approved by the Ministry of Defence to deliver dog grooming courses to military personnel from the RAF, Army and Royal Navy.
Alongside the level three range of grooming courses, the Clifton Drive school also offers other courses, including canine first aid, pet sitting and dog walking, to military leavers.
Sarah Mackay, from Four Paws Groom School Cheshire, said: "We are thrilled to be part of this very worthwhile resettlement scheme for forces leavers, and look forward to welcoming our first students.
"There are more pets in the UK than ever before, and popular cross breeds such as labradoodle and cockapoo need regular coat care.
"This means that many established groomers are struggling to keep up with demand, so it has never been a better time to consider a career in pet care."
Personnel leaving the forces have access to a resettlement fund, giving them opportunities to retrain at approved facilities such as Four Paws Groom School, which also has an approved location in Kent.
Four Paws Groom School offers Ofqual regulated qualifications by iPET Network, and designed by experts working in the industries the courses focus on.
The MOD's Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) Scheme promotes lifelong learning among members of the Armed Forces.
