A MAN who was arrested in relation to an armed robbery in Winsford has been detained under the mental health act.

The incident occurred at the Betfred store on Jubilee Way at around 12.20pm on Thursday, August 4.

Armed police and a helicopter were involved in the search for the man, who stole a quantity of cash before making his escape on a bicycle.

A 40-year-old man was arrested yesterday, Wednesday, after officers conducted a warrant at an address on Station Road, Winsford.

He has since been released on conditional bail and detained under the mental health act.

Detective sergeant Ross Hamilton, of Northwich CID, said: “The investigation remains ongoing, and we are continuing to speak to the victims in the case and a number of witnesses who have already come forward.

“As part of our enquiries we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and believes they may have witnessed the incident or seen anything suspicious or unusual in the area.

“The same goes for anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage that may be relevant to the investigation.”
