STAFF at a Winsford betting shop have been left shaken after an armed robbery yesterday, Thursday.

Detectives are now appealing for witnesses and video footage following the incident at the BetFred store in Jubilee Way at around 12.20pm on August 4.

A unknown man, who was possibly armed with a firearm, threatened staff and demanded money behind the counter.

He then left the shop via the main entrance with a quantity of cash.

The man then got onto bicycle and cycled into a service area at the back of Argos, travelling towards Dingle Lane.

The suspect was described as a white man with a Manchester accent, around 6’ 3” tall and of stocky build.

He was wearing a black face mask, glasses, an orange long sleeved high vis jacket, with a blue hoody underneath, dark trousers, and a black and green baseball cap.

The man was also carrying a black gym bag.

Detective Sergeant Ross Hamilton, of Northwich CID, said: “While there were no reports of any injuries, the store workers have understandably been left shaken by their ordeal and we are committed to doing all that we can trace the person responsible.

“The incident occurred in a busy shopping precinct and as part of our enquiries we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and believes they may have witnessed the incident or seen anything suspicious or unusual in the area around the time of the robbery.

“The same goes for anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage that may be relevant to our investigation.
