MIDDLEWICH Town got their 2022/23 league campaign off to a fine start.
They defeated Daten Sports 3-0 in the Cheshire Football League Premier Division at Seddon Street on Saturday.
The Witches got off to a fast start and saw out the contest in style, with man-of-the-match Sam Wakefield scoring twice.
It capped a top-drawer display from Middlewich’s No10, as he was constantly first to the ball and held up play well up front in what were valuable contributions to the team’s success.
Terrence Cain was Middlewich’s other man to notch.
The Witches, who are looking to improve on last season’s seventh-place finish, were scheduled to host Egerton last night, Wednesday, after the Guardian went to press.
They visit Whaley Bridge Athletic on Saturday, kick-off 2pm, and then host Congleton Reserves next Wednesday.
Middlewich Town Reserves start their season at Poynton tonight, Thursday.
