A WINSFORD man has appeared in court after stealing three televisions worth more than £800 from the town’s Asda supermarket.

On three separate occasions across May and June this year, Kevin Owen, of Brindley Avenue, entered Asda at The Drumber and stole televisions worth hundreds of pounds.

Chester Magistrates Court heard how the 51-year-old stole a £299 television on May 12.

The following month, on June 7, he stole a £329 television before returning to Asda a few days later on June 11 and stealing a television worth £219.

At a court hearing on Tuesday, July 26, magistrates took Owen’s guilty plea into account before sentencing him to a community order.

This involves a rehabilitation activity requirement of up to 35 days and drug rehabilitation where he must provide samples to the Probation Service for 12 months.

Magistrates also ordered Owen to pay compensation of £500.
