A WARRINGTON firm has been named one of the best in the UK in a new list.

Crest Medical, based in Woolston, had a key role in providing vital PPE for frontline workers, including medical gloves, gowns, suits, eye protection and theatre caps during the pandemic.  

Now the firm has been named in The Sunday Times 100 - Fastest-Growing Businesses list.

The new annual rankings identifies and celebrates Britain’s 100 leading entrepreneurial businesses, and showcases the people behind the UK’s most dynamic private companies.

Crest Medical is ranked 8th in the north west and 48th in the UK.

It had sales of £150,751,404 last year and currently employs 100. That is a 69 per cent growth rate.

The top 100 have all performed exceptionally during the pandemic and show how some companies used the change to consumer and work habits to their advantage.” 

Cheshire-based biotech company Everything Genetic headed the rannkings in the north west.

Itmade sales of £35 million last year, a staggering 218% a year increase over the last three years. The innovative medical technology business was initially focused on identifying genetic predispositions to cancer but since 2020 it has manufactured one million PCR tests and 10 million rapid tests, largely for people travelling overseas.

The inaugural Sunday Times 100 rankings are published today online at sundaytimes.co.uk/100 and available as a supplement with the print edition of the newspaper this Sunday, 3rd July.
