WINSFORD Amateur Swimming Club will be extremely well represented at national championships this summer.

In total, 11 of the club’s swimmers will be competing in either the British or English National Swimming Championships – both, in some cases.

Lewis Turner, Adam Wright, Lois Inch and Amy Kenworthy will all compete in the British meet at Sheffield’s Pond Forge between July 22-28 having notched impressive results during the qualification period between mid-March and the first weekend of May.

A few weeks later, a further seven Winsford swimmers will be taking part in the English competition at the same venue on August 5-9.

To qualify, swimmers had to rank in the top 24 – or top 18 for the 800m and 1,500m freestyle – to make the British nationals and if they finished in the next 20, they would earn a place at the English nationals.

In total, Winsford ASC members have qualified for 24 events and those attending have been praised by Dan Goodwin, the club’s head coach.

“To attain such a high standard is testament to all the hard work our swimmers have put into their training and racing,” he said.

“I am sure all swimmers will do everything they can in the time we have to prepare, to give us the best possible chance of success in Sheffield.”
