A CARPET store which has been trading in Winsford for 25 years has 'reached the end of a great journey' as it prepares to close its doors for good next month.

Carpets Unlimited, based in Wharton Retail Park, is closing its Winsford branch on Sunday, July 17, after losing its current home and not being able to find an appropriate new site.

Nick Smith, one of the directors, said he was sad at making the difficult decision, but reassured customers that the company’s Chester branch will remain open.

He said: “After many happy years and a very established customer base we now have finally reached the end of a great journey in Winsford, but the great service and prices will still carry on in our Chester store.

“We are a family business and have always treated are customers like friends and family too.

“It feels like only yesterday when we started trading in Winsford, but unfortunately the closure of Alan Ward next to us due to the Covid-19 pandemic meant the landlord looked for a buyer for the full site, and Home Bargains became our new landlord.

“We traded on throughout the pandemic and business was thankfully very good due to our loyal customers.

“After our first 25 years, we looked at renewing our lease for the next 25 years, but our new landlord (Home Bargains) had ideas to expand the full site for their own use.

“There were no other suitable premises for us in Winsford.

“All our staff have grown up with the company and have great memories of their time in the community.

“They have been extremely loyal to us and it’s very sad for them, it’s a shame we’re going.

“Just a reminder our Chester store is only around the corner and will welcome all the Carpets Unlimited customers with the same service.”

The Winsford store will be having a closing down sale before it shuts its doors, and customers are invited to have a look at the items on offer.
