SCHOOLCHILDREN from Winsford have embarked on a 'once-in-a-lifetime' trip to London.

Year six pupils at the Grange Community Nursery and Primary School travelled to our nation's capital on June 9 for a day of sightseeing.

The children were excited for the long-awaited trip as it had previously been disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

After arriving at Euston, on the agenda was a visit to the Tower of London to see the Crown Jewels and meeting some favourite celebrities at Madame Tussauds.

The children finished their day with a meal at Pizza Express and a trip to the Lyceum Theatre to watch The Lion King, which they will be performing their own version of later this summer.

The following day, the children made their way to the River Thames to ride the London Eye and go on the river boat cruise to learn all about the landmarks around them.

The children had learned about London landmarks and the River Thames in their Geography lessons earlier this year. The class finished off their London visit with an ice cream by the river.

Head of school, Harriet McGilloway, said "We are so proud to offer this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our children.

"Living in the heart of Winsford, it is imperative that they are able to develop their cultural capital by visiting cities - and no city more so than our capital city."
