MIDDLEWICH Town FC under 14s manager Mark Hitchen says he is proud of the team's achievements in the 2021/22 campaign.

He is full of praise for the efforts involved by the players and coaches in securing a Mid Cheshire League title after a difficult period in the world's history with the coronavirus pandemic.

"What a great season the under 14s have had after all the Covid restrictions being lifted and allowing the football season to start at grassroots level again, the boys have gone through the entire season only losing one game on the way to winning the league Division Two and being promoted to Division One with two games left to play," said Hitchen.

They finished three points clear of nearest rivals Sandbach United Eagles after their 12 games.

"This has been a fantastic season and a great effort and commitment by all the coaches, Jamie Smith, Matt Lawrie and Scott Unsworth, and of course the boys," said Hitchen

"We are all very proud of the achievements this season and look forward to the challenge of Division One next season."
