A WINSFORD man has been jailed after sending a woman two 10p bank transfers by way of an apology.
Daniel Robertson, of Plantagenet Close, was banned from having any contacting with the woman after he assaulted her in January.
The 42-year-old was also handed a 20-week suspended jail sentence for the assault and another charge of harassment after bombarding her with unwanted attention.
As well as the impending threat of a period behind bars hanging over Robertson’s head, Chester Magistrates Court also made him the subject of a two-year restraining order.
Despite that sentence only being imposed on March 18, it took a little over a month for the terms of that order to be completely ignored.
Robertson made two separate payments of 10p via a bank transfer using the reference “I’m Sorry”. He was hauled back before magistrates in Warrington on Friday, April 29, where he admitted the charge of harassment and breaching the terms of the restraining order.
They told Robertson he had a flagrant disregard for people and their property as well as for court orders.
The 20-week suspended sentence was invoked, and magistrates added an additional eight-week term, which will be served consecutively.
Robertson was sent to custody immediately and must also pay prosecution costs of £85.
