IT’S one small step for man, one giant leap for Northwich.
The town is set for a lunar eclipse this weekend with hundreds of people expected to visit the moon as it rises in the iconic Plaza.
The Museum of the Moon by Luke Jerram will be a spectacular sight as it hangs from the ceiling of the art deco former cinema on Witton Street.
Measuring seven metres in diameter, the moon features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface. At an approximate scale of 1:500,000, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 5km of the moon’s surface.
The award-winning artwork has already been showcased in more than 30 countries and experienced by over three million people across the world.
The event is just one of the many being held throughout the town between Saturday, April 30 and Monday, May 2.
Visiting the moon is also completely free with no booking required – just turn up and be amazed!
Three lunar sessions that did require prior-booking - Yoga Under the Moon, Quiet Time Under the Moon and Bedtime Stories Under the Moon - have all now sold out.
For those without tickets for those sessions you can visit the moon during the following times:
Saturday, April 30 – 12pm-6pm and 7.30pm-10pm
Sunday, May 1 – 10am-6pm
Monday, May 2 – 10am-6pm
