PLANS have been submitted for new camping pods made from recycled plastic bottles to be installed near Winsford.

Proposals submitted on behalf of New Farm Caravan Park to Cheshire East Council seek permission for part of the land to be used to site the five new pods.

The pods are each constructed from 4,500 plastic bottles that have been recycled and are 2.8m high.

The application site is located at New Farm, Wettenhall, just seven miles from Winsford.

It lies to the south east of Long Lane and covers an area of 0.25 hectares.

The wider land holding comprises a caravan park and fishing lakes, with the farmstead also including bed and breakfast accommodation.

A design and access statement submitted in support of the application said the surrounding area is generally ‘rural in character’ with farmsteads spread sporadically across the landscape.

It said New Farm’s boundary to Long Lane comprises an existing maintained hedgerow and hedgerow trees. To the south and west are fishing lakes and agricultural fields.

The statement added: “The site lies within an area described as The Market Towns and Estate Villages settlement character area in the Cheshire East Design Guide.

“This landscape character area rises from a relatively flat landscape in the north to an elevated undulating landscape in the south.

“Surrounding fields are small to large, regular, semi-regular and irregular fields boundaries are demarcated with hedgerows and singular trees.

“The combination of the flat topography, low hedgerows and post and wire fences creates a large scale landscape with extensive views across the Cheshire Plain. Small copses and coverts are scattered across the area.”

No date has yet been set for the decision.
