'THE world's sunniest musical'.

That's not a bad accolade for a show based on the universally-loved songs of Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus - the BBs from Abba.

The two AAs being Agnetha and Anni-Frid - their one-time partners - who gave sparkle to their melodies and lyrics about love-gone-wrong, love-gone-right and love-caught-in-the-middle.

Mamma Mia! - the stage show opened in 1999 and has been seen by more than 65 million people.

Mamma Mia! indeed - the exclamation mark says it all.

It went on to be two box office smash movies and most recently a themed dining 'experience' in London.

Since then, Abba have recorded again, released an album and are set to present a virtual reality hologram season of concerts.

Mamma Mia! the musical is rightly still going strong in its own right.

It certainly has more comedy than the films and a real sense of theatre with its superb lighting on clever stage sets.

And there's something about a cracking seven-piece live band belting out the uptempo numbers while allowing us to wallow in the glow of finely-tuned melancholic ballads.

Now with a hugely talented, versatile and enthusiastic 15-strong cast and exciting ensemble it is on a UK tour and will continue to be a huge theatrical postcard brought magically to life.

It has the WOW factor.

A chance to hear the soundtrack to our lives: Dancing queen, Knowing me knowing you, SOS, Super trouper and Waterloo, Take a chance on me - in fact every one of the 22 songs included is a gem.

It is set on a Greek island paradise and is a story of romance, friendship and new beginnings slickly told through the classic , timeless pop songs of Abba.

On the night I went the role of Sophie Sheridan was played by understudy Phoebe Roberts.

She gave a truly-rounded performance as the bubbly bride-to-be who invited three of her mum's former lovers of two decades ago to her wedding. But which one is her father?

Sara Poyzer as Donna Sheridan is simply outstanding. I never thought anyone could beat Meryl Streep's cinematic achievement in singing the heart-wrenching Winner takes it all but, believe me, Sara is exceptional in her angst-ridden delivery.

It is a show for music fans of all ages.

The finale is a joyful celebration of life. If you have never seen the stage show before this is the production for you.

If you have seen it then go and remind yourself of the Abba magic in the hands of these super troupers.
