Friends of Winsford Town Park raises £3k with 2022 calendar

This was the third calendar produced by the Friends of Winsford Town Park, designed in the town by the Neuromuscular Centre design+print team.

“We sold 926 copies,” said John Malam, chairman of the Friends.

“And it raised a very respectable £3,185.”

The calendar raised funds for the Friends to use in Town Park, and also for St Luke’s Hospice, the group’s charity partner.

“We’re donating £800 to St Luke’s, which represents 25 per cent of the profits raised by the calendar,” said John.

“An additional £312.76 has gone directly to St Luke’s from table-top donations collected when we were out and about selling the calendar over the Christmas period.

“Our grateful thanks go to the calendar’s sponsors, Lane End Group Ltd and Winsford Town Council, the many retailers and venues who helped us to sell it, and, of course, to the hundreds of Winsford residents who bought copies for themselves and to give to friends and family.

“We know that copies have been posted to Australia, New Zealand, Costa Rica, Chile, Canada, the USA, Russia, and many countries in Europe.

Angela Slack, community partnerships manager at St Luke’s, said: “We are so grateful to the Friends of Winsford Town Park for their ongoing support of St Luke’s Hospice.

“The group’s continued support and kindness means such a lot to us.

“It means we are able to deliver care and comfort to those in our community who need it most and helps us to make the most of the moments that count for our patients and their families.”

The Friends of Winsford Town Park was established in 2018 with the aim of ‘helping to make Winsford Town Park an attractive space for the community to enjoy’.

Volunteers help to maintain the park’s planted areas and general tidiness, carry out litter picks, stage ‘Party in the Park’ (an annual event on the last Saturday in June) and support other groups in their use of the park.
