A DREAM has come true for a heartbroken mum as she unveils a bench in memory of her son.
Mum-of-four Louise Hallwood has been striving to keep the memory of 12-year-old Cason alive.
The Winsford Academy schoolboy, who had a peanut allergy, died after accidentally eating a peanut glaze on his Christmas dinner a year ago.
The 39-year-old is keen to raise awareness after Cason died from anaphylactic shock and yearned to reach a £10,000 target for a charity that supports people at risk from severe allergic reactions.
Out of the blue, £845 was donated to her appeal for the Anaphylaxis Campaign, topping the goal.
Mum-of-four Ferne McCorkindale, who lives near Louise, made the gift from a legacy left by her mum, Paula Mallett, who died recently.
Ferne, 33, said: "It just broke my heart seeing how much Louise has gone through. I have been following all her charity efforts.
"I know I am grieving for my mum but it's not the same as losing a child.
"I wanted to help her reach her £10,000 target."
Ferne, who is married to Cameron, and has four children, Molly, 14, Felicity, 12, Caleb, four and one-year-old Hudson, has vowed to help Louise raise more funds.
"I want to do a sky dive," said Ferne. "I'm petrified and scared of heights, but I want to give something back."
Louise, overwhelmed by Ferne's generosity, said: "I still can't believe it.
"I said to my mum we needed a miracle to reach the target. My eyes popped out when I saw the figure pop up on my GoFundMe page. It's like I'd won the lottery.
"I can't thank her enough."
A memorial bench engraved for Cason 'who gained his angel wings on Christmas Day' has been installed at Wharton Recreation Park by Winsford Town Council.
It is placed beneath a tree where the schoolboy played with friends minutes before he fell ill.
"It means everything to me to have a place where I can sit and reflect," said Louise.
"I think about Cason every minute of every day.
"It is my 40th birthday on Saturday so I'm asking people if they will continue to add the appeal instead of buying presents.
"Cason had a big heart and was our little legend. I don't want him ever to be forgotten."
