CHESHIRE Police have issued an update following a report of a child abduction in Middlewich last weekend.
At 8pm on Saturday, January 8, a man approached a four-year-old girl in The Cheshire Cheese pub in Lewin Street and tried to lead her away.
He was challenged by a parent, and members of the public detained him outside the pub to prevent him from leaving the area.
The girl was thankfully physically unharmed by the incident.
Police subsequently arrested a man from Middlewich on suspicion of child abduction.
A police spokesperson added: "A 51-year-old man who was arrested as part of the investigation has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
"He is set to report back to officers on Sunday, February 6 2022."
