ALL live events involving visiting artists and travelling audiences have been postponed at The Hive due to the rapid rise in Covid cases.

The Complete Stone Roses gig planned for Friday has been cancelled and The Electromantics on Saturday called off.

New restrictions have now been introduced to keep staff and guests safe.

The Hive's board of trustees met to develop a range of measures to comply with new regulations and keep customers and the community safe.

Trustee Nathan Pardoe said:"The Covid-19 situation has changed rapidly in a few weeks and in response to this, The Hive is reducing capacity and requiring Covid-19 passports to keep customers and staff safe.

"Our priority is to provide a safe, open and accessible venue throughout this difficult time."

Remaining festive events on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year's Eve will be ticket only and people attending must live locally.

Trustee Damon Horrill added: "We're saddened to have to take a step backwards after so much progress and success since recently opening the main venue area.

"We hope to pick up where we left off with the big concerts come spring 2022."

The Hive says these measures will be kept under review given 'the rapidly changing situation and public health guidance'.

The big concert hall at the community owned The Hive has hosted a feast of international musicians and tribute acts since it opened a few months ago.
