As Christmas fast approaches, it is time to start thinking of how to get rid of the rubbish that accumulates over the festive period. 

Recycling centres in Northwich, Winsford and Middlewich are opening on most days, but the Christmas period differs slightly.

You can use any local recycling centre free of charge to dispose of waste and recycling from your home.

The recycling centres are closed over the Christmas period for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

The sites are free to use, but you may be asked for proof of address to prevent people from travelling to areas outside of Cheshire West. 

If you have a van, pickup, commercial type 4x4 or use a trailer between 1.5 and 3.5 metres in length, you will need a household waste permit, which you can find out more information about here

Northwich Recycling Centre

Where: Marbury Lane, Off Leicester Street, Northwich, CW9 5LN

Opening times: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 8am - 4pm

Wednesday - Thursday closed

Winsford Recycling Centre

Where: Leslie Road, Woodford Park Industrial Estate, Winsford, CW7 2RB

Opening times: Monday - Sunday 8am - 4pm

Middlewich Recycling Centre

The recycling centre is open on Bank Holidays except for Christmas Day.

The sites are free to use, but you may be asked for proof of address to prevent people from travelling to areas outside of Cheshire East. 

If you have a van, pickup, commercial type 4x4 or use a trailer between 1.5 and 3.5 metres in length, you will need a household waste permit, which you can apply for here.

Opening times: Monday to Sunday,  8.30am - 4pm

What can I take there? 

Residents of Cheshire West and Cheshire East can use the household recycling centres free of charge and take most items such as cardboard, glass and plastic.

You must separate the waste and recycling to ensure you put it in the right container at the tip.
