People across the town have been unable to use their showers and baths and have been relying on bottled water to drink.

Winsford Residents Association social media group believe homes throughout the area have been affected.

The mayor of Winsford Cllr Nathan Pardoe said: "United Utilities engineers are currently investigating the water supply outage affecting Winsford.

"There's no information yet on when supplies will be restored but I hope that they are able to restore water supplies to residents as soon as possible, and thank the teams involved for responding promptly."

A United Utilities spokesman said:“We are aware of a burst on a large water located on Weaver Street in Winsford this morning.

"Unfortunately due to the location of the burst near a busy junction, it has taken engineers longer to isolate the burst before we can repair the damage.

"A number of customers may have experienced problems with their water supply, but not we are confident water supplies are secure, our attention is now focussed on the repair.

"We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding.”
