AFTER a dominant victory over arch-rivals Northwich Victoria in the Mid Cheshire District FA Senior Cup semi-finals on Tuesday night, Blues were supposed to be turning their attention back to league action this weekend.

They were aiming to get back to winning ways in the North West Counties League Premier Division at home to Skelmersdale following their 3-0 away defeat to Irlam last Saturday.

But forces away from Barton Stadium have led to this afternoon's game being postponed.

A burst water pipe has led to facilities in the area, including Barton Stadium, being shut off and left without water, leaving club officials with no choice other than to call the game off.

Lee Duckworth’s side were on an eight-game unbeaten run before the defeat to Irlam, a run that saw his side top of the form guide – which included a 2-2 draw against top of the table Skelmersdale.

The league leaders, who are competing with Macclesfield for the top spot, have won their last three league games and are unbeaten in 13 games in the North West Counties league – the end of September being the last time Paul McNally’s side were defeated in the league.

A new date for the fixture is yet to be announced.
