Police have had to intervene after youths threw snowballs at passing traffic from a bridge above a busy bypass.

Officers were called to the bridge above the A54 Kelsall Bypass following the incident at around 4pm on Monday.

A 14-year-old boy, from the local area, was detained and returned to his parents.

Further suspects were also identified and spoken to in relation to the incident.

A Cheshire Police spokesman confirmed the incident has been passed on to the anti-social behaviour unit in the area.

He said: "At around 4pm on Monday, November 29, police were called to reports of a youths throwing snowballs off a bridge on the Kelsall Bypass.

"Officers attended the scene and detained a 14-year-old local boy who was taken home to his parents.

"A number of other suspects have been identified and spoken to in relation to the matter.

"The incident has since been referred to the local ASB unit."
