Man avoids jail for stealing meat from Lidl while on suspended sentence order

A NORTHWICH man has been punished for stealing meat worth £50 from Lidl in the town centre.

Luke Vincent Weedall, of Nicholas Avenue, Rudheath, entered the Chester Way store on October 27, where he helped himself to the meat products.

The 33-year-old was actually the subject of a suspended sentence order at the time of the theft, after carrying out a similar act in the town on December 21 last year.

Suspended sentence for owner of dangerous dog

A WINSFORD man has avoided jail after his 'dangerously out-of-control' dog injured someone.

Ashley Shaw was in charge of his Shih Tzu-pug cross 'Buddy' on July 8 earlier this year when it attacked a person in Westminster Grove.

Following the incident, the 38-year-old pleaded guilty on November 4.

Fine for man who was found with drugs while on conditional discharge​

A WINSFORD man has been fined and escaped further punishment after being found in possession of cannabis.

Dale Anthony Fiddler, of Middlewich Road, admitted having a quantity of the class B drug on May 13 this year.

At the time of the offence, the 30-year-old was actually subject of a 12-month conditional discharge, having committed an assault.

Warrant issued after man failed to attend post-sentence appointments

A WARRANT has been issued for the arrest of a Winsford man after he failed to turn up to post-sentence supervision.

Michael Clarke, of Townfields Road, had been sentenced to serve 12 weeks in prison on July 8 this year.

Upon his release, the 39-year-old was supposed to attend planned appointments as part of his post-sentence supervision.

However, he failed to turn up to appointments on three consecutive weeks, between November 1 and November 15.

Clarke failed to provide evidence to reasonably support these absences within a specified timescale.

Despite being summoned to Chester Magistrates Court on Monday, November 29, Clarke failed to turn up for the hearing.

Magistrates therefore ordered a warrant for his arrest.

Drunk driver banned from the road after crashing into wall and fleeing the scene

A DRUNK driver has been hit with £416 fine and banned from the roads after crashing into a stone wall and driving off.

Joseph Machin-Smith was driving along Mereside Road in Knutsford on September 28 earlier this year when he collided with and damaged a wall.

The 21-year-old, who was above the legal limit and uninsured at the time, failed to stop following the accident.

Drunk driver banned for being almost twice over the limit

A MAN caught driving whilst being almost twice over the legal alcohol limit has been banned from the road.

David Morris, 40, of Mainwaring Drive, Wilmslow, was driving a Mercedes on February 2 this year when police carried out a breath test, Greater Manchester Magistrates Court heard on November 26.

The reading recorded that he had 67 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Man fined for possessing eight bags of cannabis

A MAN has been prosecuted after police found eight bags of cannabis.

Jed Sutton, 22, of Heywood Close, Alderley Edge, admitted being in possession of the drugs when he appeared at Greater Manchester Magistrates Court on November 25.

The controlled Class B cannabis and cannabis resin was discovered on December 12, 2020.
