CCTV has been installed in Winsford Town Park in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour.

Councillors met with police earlier this year to see what measures could be introduced following a sharp rise in vandalism and arson attacks ā€“ which saw swings and bins set on fire.

Plans to install CCTV cameras were explored and these went live on Tuesday.

Mayor of Winsford Nathan Pardoe said: "Iā€™m delighted that the CCTV is live in our Town Park.

"I hope the cameras will deter the handful of vandals who have tried to spoil our wonderful park for the majority of us who love it.

"Thank you to Winsford Town Council staff for organising the installation."

Sarah Rossington, Winsford Town Council, added: "The CCTV covers a large part of the park, this should bring a stop to anti-social behaviour.

"Winsford Town Council will continue to work with police to make the park a safe and enjoyable place."
