A DRIVER on his mobile phone while driving along the M6 has been stopped.

They were halted by a sergeant at the Regional Commercial Vehicle Unit in Knutsford following the offence.

It's illegal to hold a mobile phone while driving regardless of the reason for doing so.

A traffic offence report has been issued.

On Twitter, a North West Motorway Police spokesperson said: “Another one stopped by the RCVU Sgt at Knutsford after the driver was seen on his mobile phone driving along the M6. Traffic offence report issued."
