WITH pre-season now well and truly behind Winsford United, they head into this weekend’s home game against Burscough FC still looking for their first win

It is fair to say it has been a tough start to the season for Winsford.

On the opening day they travelled to a very impressive Charnock Richard side falling to a 5-1 defeat.

They were then involved in a midweek classic at The Barton Stadium, against Robbie Savage’s Macclesfield and achieving a 4-4 draw after coming from behind three times.

Then Blues were in FA Cup action as they faced Charnock Richard for the second time in eight days.

This time it was a tighter affair but the outcome remained the same, Charnock taking a 2-0 victory.

The visitors to Barton Stadium this afternoon have had an indifferent start to the season.

Burscough FC were worthy 3-1 winners at home to Ashton Athletic, before they were well beaten 4-0 away to Macclesfield in the FA Cuplast weekend.

The last two games between the sides were back in 2019, when Winsford won both meetings. A 3-1 away win in August, and just a couple months later a big 6-0 home win.
