THE council are appealing for residents help in keeping roads free from flooding after one in Winsford flooded again yesterday.
Nixon Drive in Winsford flooded last year and so too was a car on the road. The onslaught of heavy rain has covered the road in water once again.
Ruth Bell posted on Facebook: “This is what happens every time we get heavy rain. It's a joke. The council need to assess the drainage system.”
And a spokesman for Chester West and Chester has encouraged residents to give the gully grid, which can flood, a sweep to avoid being blocked.
He said: “During periods of heavy rainfall, the gully grids at the sides of roads can become blocked with leaves and other material, making it more difficult for the water to run off. This appears to be what has happened at this location in Winsford.
“The council cleans the gullies across the borough as part of an ongoing programme. In instances such as this, where the gully has become blocked before we can get round to cleaning it, residents can help by giving them a quick sweep to rid them of any waste material.
“We would stress that residents should only do this if it is safe but it could help avoid the build-up of excess surface water.”
