ONLY six months to go until Christmas and plans are already in place to transform a Cheshire castle into a winter wonderland.

A magical light trail will illuminate the Bolesworth Estate for its first magnificent festive event.

Visitors will have special access to some of the spectacular grounds which surround the historic house close to Tattenhall for 30 nights of festivities.

The 1.2 mile trail will guide families through an enchanted woodland after dark where there will be a rainbow of floodlit trees, lights that twinkle by the lakeside and sparkling walkways with laser lit bridges.

Father Christmas and his reindeer will be in the woodland.

A festive food and drink market will give visitors the chance to celebrate with seasonal treats.

Children young and old will be able to visit Father Christmas in his grotto and there will also be a chance to go ice skating with an impressive laser and light show display every evening.

Nina Barbour, managing director of Bolesworth, said: “This is the first time we have staged a Christmas event at Bolesworth and we are really looking forward to creating a magical winter wonderland for the whole family to enjoy together.

“We have some beautiful grounds here at Bolesworth and it will be lovely to share them with visitors during this incredibly special time of year.

“We are really excited to create this beautiful light, music and entertainment spectacle which can’t fail to get us all into the festive spirit.”

Bolesworth will also be hosting extra special Christmas parties perfect for company nights out or family and friend festive get togethers.

Party goers can make the most of the light trail before warming up by a fire pit where Christmas cocktails and a festive menu will provide the perfect refreshment.

There will even be a secret champagne island available to book.

The lights start on November 26 and run until Christmas Eve.

The festivities come at the end of a busy 2021 for Bolesworth which is scheduled to play host to an array of events through the summer.

The estate is looking forward to welcoming three world class equestrian shows, Chris Evans’ family fundraising favourite CarFest and The Great Balloon Race, where dozens of hot air balloons will fly into the air along with musical entertainment.

Tickets for the Bolesworth Christmas Lights will be on sale from July 1 at
