PLANS are underway to create a designated area for dogs to run off their leads and play.

Winsford Town Council is proposing to set aside a dog area in Leaf Lane park.

Dog owners have frequently asked for space to be provided for pets to roam freely.

Cllr Lyndsay Barwell, chairman of the open spaces committee, said: "Any comments on what you want to see in a dog area or nearby ones that have been good would be much appreciated before we proceed with the work.

"We have discussed plans with a dog trainer."

Councillors plan to set aside an area in Leaf Lane park for dogs to roam freely

The idea is to give dogs a specific space where they can run around as the public space protection order prohibits dogs from being off their leads in parks or play areas.

The proposed area measures 65 metres by 15 metres with double gates to prevent dogs escaping.

The council is now asking for dog owners to send comments and feedback to mail@winsford.gov.uk
