HOW often do you hear about one of Cheshire’s most haunted halls hosting Ghostbusters?

In line with the reputation as being one of Cheshire’s ‘most haunted’ stately homes, Capesthorne hall will host the 1984 film, among others, to raise money for the NSPCC.

The NSPCC’s midsummer drive-in movie festival runs at Capesthorne Hall from Friday, June 11 to Sunday, and will offer film classics on one of the biggest mobile movie screens in the world.

The morning showings are aimed at children and families, with Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation on Saturday and Peter Rabbit on Sunday, while evening screenings will include Spider-Man: Far From Home on Friday, Ghostbusters on Saturday and Little Women on Sunday.

Ghost hunter Yvette Fielding and her Most Haunted television team have previously visited the stately home and filmed numerous paranormal presences, hence the showing of Ghostbusters.

A spokesperson for Capesthorne said: “We are hopeful that Bill Murray and his team of ghostbusters will help improve our spooky resident’s misbehaviour! We are delighted to support this inaugural event that’s success could generate income to answer 7,500 Childline contacts.”

The three-day movie festival marks the NSPCC’s first national Childhood Day as well as the 37th anniversary of Ghostbusters first screening.

Proceeds from catering will also go to the NSPCC.

Tickets to each drive-in screening cost from £30 per car, while VIP tickets are also available.

Janette Drew, NSPCC community fundraising manager, said: “We are hugely excited about the Midsummer Drive-In Movie event, and incredibly grateful to everyone at Lidl and Capesthorne Hall for their support.

“The last year has been a real challenge for the NSPCC, as so many of our important fundraising events have been postponed or cancelled due to the pandemic.

“Around 90% of funding for all our vital child protection work comes from public donations, so hosting such an amazing event in such a wonderful setting couldn’t be more welcome.”
