BASFORD Way play area in Winsford was found 'trashed' with rubbish after a fire broke out at the weekend.

At roughly 3.41pm on Sunday, one fire engine attended to put out the small fire in the play area.

One resident, Chloe Neal, who was walking past the park at 10pm found it 'completely trashed'.

"There was ripped up bread, burnt cans, paper and ripped up mattress," she said.

"I can’t think to imagine taking a child to play there to find this and I just think it is so disrespectful," she said.

"I entered the park to take a photo and share it on the Winsford community as people need to be aware that this has happened."

The fire involved foam and a hose reel was used to put out the flames.
