OPTICIANS have invested £400,000 to improve urgent eye care technology.

Specsavers has opened a new store in a temporary location in Dingle Walk ahead of a move to permanent premises in Winsford Cross shopping centre in September.

The final relocation will see an increased number of test rooms, enabling greater accessibility to both optical and audiology services and better access to the services they need.

The local community will also be able to benefit from an increase in enhanced optical services.

The store will offer a higher number of urgent eye care services, be able to expand their pre and post-cataract care, diabetic retinopathy screening, and ocular hypertension, monitoring screening.

The business will also have more availability to offer customers an enhanced sight test using optical coherence tomography (OCT) technology.

This hospital-grade technology uses light to take more than 1,000 images of the back of an eye and beyond, looking right back at the optic nerve and creating a cross-section view.

Emma Ford, optometry director at Specsavers Winsford, has worked for Specsavers for more than five years and is trained in enhanced optical services.

Emma said: "This investment gives us the ability to enhance customer experience and the hearing and optical services we offer.

"This new location will also help to create further career opportunities in the longer term, which will be widespread across the team in both optics and audiology."

Emma works with Peter Adshead, a retail partner with more than 16 years experience and a dedicated team of loyal staff who have spent many years working with the local community.

The new location will be close to the multi-storey car park which offers two hours of free parking making the store easily accessible to customers.

Work is scheduled for completion in early September when Winsford residents will be able to benefit from increased availability for appointments, additional services, and the improved facilities.
