KNUTSFORD craft beer and artisan gin specialist Dexter and Jones has revealed plans to treble its capacity by knocking through to next door.

The Princess Street boutique shop and micro bar is taking over the former Knutsford Hair Spa unit as part of an expansion project.

Showbiz couple Adam and Katy Rickitt, who run Dexter and Jones, will be getting the keys on June 1 with the building work taking place shortly after that.

They anticipate that the work will be completed by June 21 with capacity increasing from 22 to 66 but still 'set up in the intimate way we all love'.

Adam, who is best known for playing Nick Tilsley in Corrie, said: "It's been a crazy year with everything that's gone on, but the best bit has been the growing audience for craft beer across the board.

"We always hoped we'd have to grow but never thought it would be this soon.

The unit that Dexter and Jones is knocking through into

"By more than doubling our space we can not only get more people in the door, but also support even more up-and-coming breweries who are the life blood of the scene."

Adam and his wife, Good Morning Britain reporter Katy, took over Dexter and Jones in November 2019 after starting out as regular customers there.

The store then stayed open as a bottle shop throughout the whole coronavirus crisis - which provided a lifeline not just for the couple but for small independent breweries.

Adam now works with craft beer producers directly rather than going through distributors.

He added: "Helping these indies starting out has become our ultimate mission, and by introducing more and more people to their hoppy insanity we hope to be able to help even more breweries break in to the scene.

"This place, the people and the breweries we support have given so much to us, and hopefully by being that bit bigger we can give even more back."

The shop and bar will remain open throughout the building work.
