FAMILIES struggling to buy food have received practical support from a supermarket.

Jack's, off Wheelock Street in Middlewich, has kindly donated snacks, lunchbox items and drinks to Middlewich & District Foodbank to help with their incredible work.

This project, founded in 2014, is funded by local churches and community groups who work together to help families in crisis.

The foodbank believes that no-one in the community should have to face going hungry.

The charity provided 1,685 bags containing nutritionally balanced emergency food for three days to people last year.

The donation from Jack's will help the organisation to continue their selfless work helping the people of Middlewich and the surrounding areas.

Darren Preston, store manager of Jack's Middlewich, said: "Everyone at Jack's is always looking for new ways to give back to the local community.

"Middlewich & District Foodbank has been working so hard to help as many people as possible and we're very happy to help in any way we can."

The foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
