A WINSFORD test centre for people with no coronavirus symptoms has moved to a more central venue.

The asymptomatic test centre which was set up at Winsford Lifestyle Centre at the beginning of the year has now relocated to The Dingle Recreation Centre on High Street.

Anyone who has no symptoms of Covid-19 can use it.

Everyone is advised to test themselves twice a week regardless of whether they have been vaccinated or not.

People can pop in without an appointment and get tested for free from 9am to 7pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 1pm on Saturday.

Free kits to home test are also available to collect.

One in three people with Covid-19 do not have any symptoms and asymptomatic tests help to identify positive cases and prevent people from spreading the virus unknowingly.

Cllr Louise Gittins, leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “Brio should be congratulated and thanked for having hosted our Winsford Testing Centre since January.

"It is fabulous that more than 13,500 people have used the facility since it opened on January 18.”

Ian Ashworth, director of public health at the council, said: “The relocated facility at The Dingle Centre on Winsford High Street is in the middle of town and open to all.

“We all should be getting tested twice a week whether we are vaccinated or not. Vaccines, testing and hands, face, space, and fresh air are the way that we can beat this disease, protect ourselves and others.

“Home test kits can also be collected at the centre. It is best to take a test at the centre before collecting the home test kits, so that people are confident in taking the test successfully, before they try at home.”

Anyone who has any symptoms of Covid-19 should book a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test by visiting gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or calling 119.
