INQUISITIVE children have been fascinated to discovered lots of tiny creatures living outside their classroom.
Armed with magnifying glasses, pupils at St Mary's Catholic Primary School in Middlewich set off on a bug hunt.
Every class had a session in the woods as part of a new Forest Schools programme.
Headteacher Janet McKinlay said: "We talked about safety aspects first. The last thing we want is a child to be stung by a nettle or a wasp.
"We also discussed the Countryside Code and how to navigate a fire pit but the thing the pupils really enjoyed was the bug hunt."

Excited children were keen to show Mrs McKinlay the creatures they had found.
Teaching assistant Carmen Shaw said: "The children were really careful when exploring the forest area searching for bugs and listened when I told them to return them to the place when they found them once they’d examined them with a magnifying glass."
