DRIVERS are being warned about overnight closures on the M6 and A556 this week as work continues on the junction 19 improvement scheme.

Highways England will be closing the northbound exit slip road of the motorway at junction 19 between 9pm and and 6am each night from Monday to Friday.

From 8pm to 6pm each night, the A556 will be closed northbound from the A5033 Northwich Road and southbound from the junction 19 roundabout.

Diversions have been put in place, with motorists advised to plan ahead and allow up to an extra 12 minutes for their journeys.

The diversion in place for the slip road closure will have drivers continue up the M6 to junction 20, leaving the motorway and rejoining southbound before exiting again at the junction 19 southbound slip road.

For motorists travelling on the A556 towards Altrincham, the diversion will have them turn onto the A5033 Northwich Road heading towards Knutsford and turn onto the A50.

Continue on the A50 until it intersects with the A556 and rejoin the dual carriageway.
