FIREFIGHTERS tackled a suspected arson attack on a vehicle in Sproston near Middlewich last night, Thursday.
At 10.10pm crews from Middlewich and Sandbach were dispatched to reports of a large vehicle fire in Holmes Chapel Road.
On arrival they found an excavator which was well alight.
One firefighter, wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
Crews also used two dry powder extinguishers to tackle the flames.
The crews were detained at the scene for around two hours.
The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate and anyone with any information is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 970489, or visit cheshire.police.uk/tua.
