LIFE has returned to towns up and down the country today as lockdown restrictions have eased.

Hair salons, barbers and non-essential retail shops have re-opened their doors to customers for the first time in months while pubs, cafes and restaurants have been able to serve people outside.

And for Bonnie Beesley, from Winsford, today was extra special.

The 82-year-old was able to get out of her house for the first time in two years to meet up with some old friends and former colleagues from Junitex clothing.

The group, who have known each other for more than 40 years and worked together for for more than 20, met up for a brew at The Queens Arms pub.

Bonnie said: "It's fantastic to be back outside again. We've been friends for 40-odd so that will tell you how much it means to be here with them.

"The sun has been shining on the righteous this morning and I've been able to have a good chat and a brew with my friends.

"We've kept in touch but being here now, face to face, it's nice.

"The pub is a lovely friendly place to meet at. It's given me a real lift today."
