A SELFLESS nine-year-old from Winsford has decided to cut 12 inches off her long locks so it can be made into a wig for children who have lost their hair.

Amelia-Grace Jameson will be donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides free, real hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.

Amelia-Grace explained: "My hair was getting too long and I couldn't deal with it anymore because of how long it takes to dry.

"I've been growing it since last year."

Step mum Gemma Smith added: "She's been wanting to do it for a quite some time now, and with lockdown we've not been able to get our hair cut.

"She knew the Little Princess Trust was there for people to donate hair and she said she wanted to donate.

"It's for children who have cancer who have gone through chemotherapy and lost their hair.

"She just said she wanted to do it - it wasn't the first time she'd mentioned it and she kept saying it, so we thought 'she's made her mind up'.

"It will make another child happy at the end of the day."

The minimum length of hair you can donate is seven inches, but Amelia-Grace decided to go one step further and donate 12 inches - which she knew the charity was short of.

She will be having her hair cut on April 13.

"She's made the choices, and she made the decision on what she wanted to do and the length she wanted to donate," Gemma said.

"We're just here to help with social media and the fundraising site."
