TWO kind-hearted schoolgirls have raised more than £700 for charity by baking and selling cupcakes.
Lily Howard and her best friend Ava Nicholson, both aged 10, have spent the last five weeks selling their delicious treats on Facebook and to their families and friends.
The pair, who both live in Winnington, are donating the proceeds to the Alzheimer's Society, a cause close to Lily's heart after she lost her great-grandmother and her grandad to the disease.
Mum Samantha Howard said: "Lily still sees her other great nana suffer every day with Alzheimer’s.
"It’s been hard as she has been unable to see her due to Covid.
"When Lily suggested doing something, Ava was right behind her and wanted to work together to raise as much as possible.
"Myself and Ava’s mum are so proud of the girls and what they have achieved."
In total, Lily and Ava have made a whopping 830 cupcakes to sell in support of the charity.
And over the weekend the girls held a bake sale outside and raised more than £250 towards their total by selling around 260 cupcakes and raffling their Easter cake.
