PLANS to instal new play equipment in Winsford parks has been given a boost thanks to lotto players.

The National Lottery has awarded Winsford Town Council almost £10,000 from their community fund to help fund accessible play equipment at Winsford Town Park and Over Recreation Ground.

The council has pledged to invest £24,500 installing two pieces of specialist play equipment.

Awards for All has contributed £9,680 towards the project and Friends of Winsford Town Park has given £2,000.

A survey gave residents the chance to choose between a variety of equipment such as a slide, Titan carousel, seesaw, basket swing, outdoor gym, multi play area or climbing frame.

Cllr Lyndsay Barwell, chairman of the open spaces committee, said: "This funding will help deliver accessible play equipment at our wonderful Town Park and the much loved Over Rec.

"I'd like to thank Winsford Town Council staff and members of the open spaces committee for their work on this project."

It is hoped the equipment will be installed this summer.

Cllr Dorothy Jump said: "As a carer, I believe play equipment should be for everybody.

"I'm looking forward to accessible play equipment being installed at the Town Park and Over Rec. It is designed for children and adults so as many people as possible can enjoy it. Thanks to the National Lottery for awarding the funding."

Winsford Town Council has pledged £35,000 in revenue and capital spending towards the project and hopes to secure a further £51,000 from other sources of funding.
