AFTER a glorious week of sunny weather following the easing of lockdown, the conditions change as we head into Easter weekend.

Clear skies and plenty of sunshine are predicted on Good Friday in the morning, but some patchy cloud will develop during the afternoon.

On Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday, temperatures will remain a mild 12°C before a significant drop on Easter Monday.

According to the Met Office, the maximum temperature in Winsford on April 5 will be just 6°C - the start of a cold spell next week.

There should be plenty of sunshine on Saturday, before the weather deterioriates on Sunday, when cloudy conditions turn to rain in the evening.

A Met Office spokesman said: "Conditions will be bright and fine Saturday, with overnight frost and fog.

"But they then turn unsettled heading into Sunday and Monday with rain clearing to wintry showers.

"On Monday the weather will turn much colder."

Further north, the cold conditions could lead to snow in some places.

Deputy chief meteorologist Mark Sidaway, at the Met Office, said: “After a settled, warm spell with plenty of sunshine particularly across England and Wales our weather will take a notable change in direction later in the weekend.

"Very cold Arctic air will move in from the north west through Sunday, bringing snow showers and freezing overnight temperatures.

"The snow showers will predominantly affect the north and west of the UK. The south and east will likely remain drier but still cold with a lower chance of wintry showers.”
