BOOK-LOVERS will soon be able to get their hands on new digital stories thanks to a new app.

Cheshire West and Chester Council's Library Service is launching a new way to download and read eBooks or listen to eAudiobooks.

From Monday, March 29, any library member will be able to download the BorrowBox app to their devices, giving them access to thousands stories free of charge, 24 hours a day.

The BorrowBox app will replace the current system from Monday so members will need to download it to continue borrowing eBooks or eAudiobooks after this date.

It will be available to download in the Apple app store or Google Play store for iOS and Android users. Kindle Fire users can also download the app, while those with PCs can access the app through the website.

Once downloaded, members simply then choose Cheshire West and Chester Libraries in the app, enter their library card number and PIN plus their email address.

The council’s director of environment and communities, Maria Byrne, said: “BorrowBox is a new app offering a brand new and wider collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks which is accessible, intuitive and simple to operate and enjoy.

"It will also offer virtually every eBook previously available, as well as some great new titles."

She added: “BorrowBox is like having an entire portable library on your phone, tablet or computer. There’s something for everyone, including bestsellers, award winners and new releases for adults, young people and children.”

Members will be able to borrow up to five eBooks and five eAudiobooks at any one time, and each item can be borrowed for 21 days.

Order and Collect is available while the borough’s libraries remain closed. More information is available at the Order and Collect web page.
