A PLANNING proposal which would see a new detached house built on St George’s Road, Winsford, will ‘make a bad situation worse’ according to one concerned neighbour.

The proposals show that Mr M Gibson is seeking permission to construct a three-bedroom home in a ‘side garden’ adjacent to a property on the street.

Now, both Winsford Town Council and a nearby resident have expressed their concerns over the plan.

The St George’s Road resident’s letter of objection said: “Many houses around the proposed development have two cars each and no off-road parking, an additional property would reduce the amount of kerbside parking available, making a bad situation worse and possibly adding to it with yet more cars.

“Additionally, during normal times when lockdown restrictions don't apply, the applicant… runs a hair salon on the property which is yet again already adding to the traffic and parking issues.

“Given all the points I have raised I am strongly opposed to the development.”

Furthermore, the Town Council’s objection stated that ‘members felt that it was an over development of the site’.

The application is for outline planning permission — meaning the applicant is seeking to gauge if the scale and nature of the proposed development would be acceptable to Cheshire West and Chester Council, before submitting a fully detailed proposal.

Residents can comment on the application until March 2.
