THE green light has been given to demolish the former Pochin Construction HQ on Brooks Lane, Middlewich.

Earlier this month, construction firm BLOK UK Ltd filed an application to knock down the offices, ‘due to the office building being obsolete with no value in the current market’, according to the bid’s planning application form.

However, Cheshire East Council planners have ruled that ‘prior approval of the method of demolition and any proposed restoration of the site is not required’ — paving the way for work to get underway.

That work is set to start very soon, according to Neville Wells.
The CLD Fencing Systems Ltd Director said: “It would be towards the end of the month. All the surveys need to be done, just to make sure [everything is in order].

“We just need to get the contract sorted which should take a couple of weeks.”

The Local Democracy Reporting Service understands that the site will continue to be used for commercial purposes, possibly as a storage yard.

BLOK has also indicated that no redevelopment works are proposed for a later date.

The demolition comes only months after CLD Fencing Systems moved into the premises last July, who will continue to occupy other areas of the industrial complex.

CLD expanded twice in 2020, having moved into new offices in Sandbach in January, which is where the firm's manufacturing facility is based.
