POLICE have seized drugs and cars in a busy 24 hours across the Wirral.
As part of Merseyside Police’s Operation Target, which tackles serious crime, police have made three arrests for drug-related offences.
Officers attended Harrowby Road on Saturday night, January 30, where a number of stop searches of people and vehicles were carried out.
One driver failed a roadside drugs wipe for cocaine and was arrested by officers.
Two further arrests took place earlier this afternoon, January 31, as part of Operation Target.
Officers stopped a car on the Beechwood estate and seized cannabis from the vehicle, while Merseyside Police says there was evidence of supply.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and possession with intent to supply, and the investigation is ongoing.
Cannabis, cocaine and heroin were also seized from a property in Eastbourne Road, Birkenhead, this afternoon.
Five people were issued fines for flouting Covid rules while a number of people remain under investigation for possession of controlled drugs, the force says.
Police have also seized two cars on the Wirral as officers checked vehicles and drivers – with the first, a red Mini, stop checked in New Ferry.
The driver was uninsured, had an expired MOT and a defective tyre, and the car was seized by police.
A second car – a silver Skoda Fabia – was also seized by officers this afternoon after a driver without insurance popped out to get petrol.
The driver was also reported, Merseyside Police says.
