A NUMBER of homes have been evacuated after firefighters were called to a street following reports of smoke coming from an electrical substation.
Crews were alerted at 10.25am and arrived at Carnegie Crescent in Sutton at 10.31am. Two fire engines are currently in attendance.
A number of properties have been evacuated and a cordon has been put in place.

Power to the substation has been isolated.
Merseyside Police, St Helens Council and Scottish Power are also in attendance at the incident.
The incident is ongoing.
