A MUM has spoken of her pride in her teenage son after he set up a project to help deliver food to the homeless.
Owen Talbot, 16, started We Are Humans North last September after being inspired by a visit to family in Bournemouth, where he had started volunteering.
Owen, from Clinkham Wood, decided to launch a similar scheme in his hometown.
He spends every day collecting donations from shops, including Morrisons, Aldi and Lidl, and from members of the project's Facebook group.
Owen then goes out around St Helens, and also Liverpool, handing out hot and cold food and drinks, clothes, sleeping bags and toiletries.
During the project he has also supported the OYO hotel, near Carr Mill Dam, where the homeless are currently staying, supplying hot meals.

Mum Lisa, 41, said: "His uncle does the same in Bournemouth with other groups where he helped out.
"He set up here at home where since the end of September he has supported around 600 people and supplied more than 170 hot meals to the hotel."
On Christmas day Owen made 30 full Christmas dinners for the hotel, having dressed up as Father Christmas the previous day.
He also supports vulnerable families who are in need of support and has helped get people accommodation for a few nights.
Lisa added: "I am very proud of him, he was only 15 at the time he started.
"Not many 15-year-olds have gone out and done what he has done."
